Fun and joyful is the meaning of “giocoso” and the tempo marking paired with allegro in this wild ride for trombone. I played this concertino in college and had a blast playing in front of an orchestra. I think it sounds like the theme song from the 60s show “My Favorite Martian” with a twist:

When was the Larsson piece written? I hear Holst, “The Planets” and hear all kinds of Sci Fi sound tracks in it…. It was an influencer. Maybe this was too…

This was written between 1953 and 1957, much later than The Planets (1914-1916) so perhaps influenced by Holst.
