About

Initially, the song a day idea was going to be a playlist of songs that I would have on my phone. I would shuffle through the list each day and then delete each song until the list was empty on December 31, 2020. I wanted to make sure that each song was one I really liked or was associated with a strong memory or event in my life.

But music should be shared with friends. So in addition to the playlist, I created this online audio journal. Each post will have a link to the song from my archive, along with a link to the artist/album and a brief note on why it made the list. I could have created a digital playlist on any number of subscription services, but this annotated “diary” seems more therapeutic.

Many songs will fall on random days, and some will be associated with birthdays, anniversaries or a liturgical season. All songs were curated solely by me and are ultimately for my enjoyment. Keep this in mind when you think, “how in the world did that song make the list?” But I do hope a song from this audio experiment will spark a familiar memory and bring you joy.
