Two of Us by Aimee Mann and Michael Penn

Today is my 32nd wedding anniversary. We first heard the version of this song, originally performed by The Beatles, in 2013. It was at the end of a wonderful trip to the UK at a pub in Bath and is a reminder of all the journeys we have taken together.

Fun and joyful is the meaning of “giocoso” and the tempo marking paired with allegro in this wild ride for trombone. I played this concertino in college and had a blast playing in front of an orchestra. I think it sounds like the theme song from the 60s show “My Favorite Martian” with a twist:

The woman in this song is “walking out of Korvettes” with a package in her hand. Korvettes was a popular department store in the 1960s that met its demise in 1980, the year this song was released.
