Day 196: Baby Elephant Walk

Baby Elephant Walk by Henry Mancini

10 years ago to the day, while on vacation in Lake Como, Italy, I predicted that this song would be played by a civic band in a town square. We were enjoying some gelato, listening to the tunes waft toward us, when I said “Wouldn’t it be great if the next song they played was Baby Elephant Walk?” I kid you not- here is the video proof:

Day 195: Devil in My Car

Devil in My Car by The B-52’s

This song really makes fun of the King of Darkness. When Fred yells “HEEELLLLP!” to his “Will you slow down?” you know you missed something in Sunday school about Satan’s attempt to commandeer your vehicle.

Day 187: Lonesome Tears

Lonesome Tears by Beck

On my top ten album list. If you Google BPM (beats per minute) for this song, you get 134. But really, you have to think of it in 2 beats per bar which gives you a BPM of 67. No one would conduct that lush string section with a 4 beat pattern, especially Beck’s dad who is David Campbell listed below.

Acoustic Guitar – Smokey*; Arranged By [String Arrangement], Conductor –David Campbell; Drums – James Gadson; Electric Bass, Electric Guitar – Justin*; Keyboards – Nigel*; Percussion – Joey*; Vocals, Keyboards – Beck
